Lecture delivered in May 2026 at the Scientific Conference of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Institution, entitled “The Feminine That Inhabits Us.”
Psychoanalysis, this Freudian science, was constituted as a method, as a commitment to understanding the deepest aspects of the human being: the drive power unique to humanity, which serves as the engine of life as well as the promoter of death. Indeed, the world has not been the same since the discovery of the unconscious and of an expanded sexuality that extends far beyond genitality. We are "lived" by the Id; the demand for work placed upon the psyche is inescapable. We understand psychoanalysis as the most important—perhaps even the most effective—proposal for addressing the issues of subjectivities, in their suffering, their limits, and their historicity, generated by humanity as a whole.
